Linda Brickman’s Legislative Updates  #8  03/3/24

CITIZEN LEGISLATOR

Lots of Legislative news this week, as always. Thank you all for listening to my rant on SB1231.  I hope that each of you were able to contact the Governor’s office, regarding the illegal immigration SB1231, and her signature to pass this urgent Bill.  After all, the Veto Queen is in Mexico and that is SO important to our own State crisis of illegals entering…let’s just say treasonous entering…

In case you have not had a chance to call the Governor’s office, here is her number (sorry I forgot to add it in the last email; thank you Carl Goldberg for pointing that out!)  and also an email to flood her email box:  https://azgovernor.gov/office-arizona-governor/form/contact-governor-hobbs   Phone number:  (602) 542-4331

Please review and tell your legislators to please vote for HCR2060 lawful presence; e-verify program; penalties.  This is an awesome Bill and just made its entrance to the Senate.  This is one method to cut down illegals from “stealing” jobs from legal citizens. My vote is: Thumbs Up! I know, I know…businesses say it is all about the money and how much they can save. Weeelll…if we stop going to those businesses, THEN how much money will you save?

HCR2060      lawful presence; E-verify program; penalties;  (see attached for a copy of the article) https://www.azleg.gov/legtext/56leg/2R/bills/HCR2060H.pdf and https://www.azleg.gov/legtext/56leg/2R/summary/H.HCR2060_022224_HOUSEENGROSSED.pdf

I am going to be nice today, and keep this short.  If there is a specific issue or topic you want me to research and write about, please let me know.  It is important that we are all knowledgeable about the issues that affect you, your family and friends.  These “Citizen Legislator” articles, are just one source for your arsenal of issues, and crisis hitting our neighborhoods. THANK YOU ALL FOR READING AND YOUR COMMENTS – GOOD AND INSTRUCTIONAL.

HOW TO CONTACT YOUR LEGISLATOR

The RTS (Request to Speak) system is a necessary component to our legislative process.  This is an excellent way to share your positions on a particular Bill and let your legislator know that you support his/her legislation.  Please review this site and make sure you know how to use it properly.  The legislators depend a lot on your opinions, and this is where you share them.

The link to sign up for the RTS system can be found here:  https://www.azleg.gov/alispdfs/Using_the_Request_to_Speak_Program.pdf

Please NOTE that you or one of our LD or Activist Groups on your behalf, are required to come to the capitol the first time you use the RTS system.  When you come to the Capitol, you can create an account and sign in on one of the Kiosks in either the House or Senate. If you create an account at home, you will only be able to use the Bill Status Inquiry application to track activity on a bill, not register an opinion or create a request to speak, until you, or someone on your behalf, come to the capitol and sign in on one of the Kiosks here.  You only need to physically come to the capitol once.  After that, everything can be done at home.

GENERAL INFORMATION

As a gentle reminder to ALL of the people who recently received these updates, this is how to read the Bill attachments.

  • All the Bills listed on the attachments are mostly ALL the Republican Introduced Bills.
  • Most all of the Bills, are the GOP Bills that I monitor on a daily basis.  The Bills highlighted in Blue are Democratic Bills that I thought were necessary to follow.
  • And, the Bills highlighted with yellow in the status and date columns, are noted for your review to see their progression in the legislative process.  All Bills are up to date through 3/3/24.
  • Remember, each Bill Number listed is a link to the Bill itself and you can access the status, documents, and Agenda’s by clicking onto the link.  Even though I monitor and keep track of the Bills daily, I only send out Updates on the weekends.  So, if you want daily updates on any Bill, just click onto the Bill Number, and go to Overview or Status, for real-time information.

This week there are about 5 attachments: the Updated Legislative Bills for the week, a sheet listing all the Abbreviations used by the legislators, the Election Bills, the Education Bills, One article on HCR2060 sharing information on E-verify..

Thank you all for asking to be a part of this mailing list.  If for some reason you wish to be removed from getting Updates, OR you know of someone that wants to be added to the mailing list, please contact me at my email address, Luvbug1611@cox.net
