What: Rio Verde Foothills Water Crisis, 1st Amendment Protection and Election Integrity

Rio Verde Foothills Water Crisis

City of Scottsdale and Maricopa County agreed to a deal to provide water to the Rio Verde Foothills, but there needs to be legislation around this. Alex Kolodin sponsored HB2561 and John Kavanaugh sponsored the mirror bill in the Senate. However, HB2561 was shot down by Democrats in committee due to concerns about equity of water distribution in Native American communities.

1st Amendment Protection

Alex Kolodin worked with Justine Wadsack to sponsor SB1418, which passed the Senate and is now back in the House. This bill prohibits prosecution based on political views.

Election Integrity

Alex Kolodin sponsored HB2322, which designates the Secretary of State’s July 2020 Signature Verification Guide as the minimum requirement for comparison of signatures. This bill passed the House with bipartisan support.
